Harvard Medical School
Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The mission of the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine (ILM) is to reduce lifestyle-related disease and mortality through physician-directed intervention.

To fulfill this mission, the Institute offers the following opportunities for clinicians:
  • Educational materials
  • Educational tools
  • Coaching and training services
  • CME courses
Active in the United States and internationally, the ILM consults with major hospitals and corporations providing exercise and wellness prescription tools in clinical settings. The ILM teaches health professionals how to deliver health promotion messages in an effective and efficient manner and how to improve their personal lifestyle choices so that they can be optimally effective role models for their patients.

The Institute, located in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School and housed at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, has many partners and collaborators. These include the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), WellCoaches, Apollo Hospital Group (WellnessRx), and others.
